Banjarbaru Municipal Regulation No. 6 of 2002 on Prostitution Countermeasures

In its preambular statement, this regional regulation states that prostitution and brothels are contrary to, and not in accordance with, the moral values and societal situation of Banjarbaru, which is renowned as being a religious society. Accordingly, it prohibits all persons and legal entities from soliciting prostitution, operating a brothel, visiting a prostitute outside Banjarbaru, and protecting prostitution activities (art 3(1)). Violation of these prohibitions carries a maximum penalty of three months' imprisonment or a fine of IDR 5 million (art 12(1)).
