North Lampung Regency Regulation No. 7 of 2006 on the Prohibition on Prostitution

This regional regulation makes provision for the prohibition on prostitution in Lampung Utara (North Lampung), Lampung. Its preambular statement declares that prostitution constitutes behaviour that contravenes religious norms, morality, customs and traditions, and the values of the Pancasila ('five principles' - Indonesian state ideology), which act as the foundation for national development. Possible penalties for contravention of this regulation include:

  1. a maximum prison sentence of six months;
  2. a maximum fine of IDR 5 million;
  3. enforced closure of business premises; and
  4. distruction of certain items (art 9(1)).
