This is a reference to Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq's use of the term "those who have affection for us" (ahl mawaddatina). Hossein Modarressi employs this reference to show that the ʿAlids (i.e., ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib and his descendants) had many dedicated supporters.
