This fatwa acknowledges that the Indonesian Council of Ulama (Majelis Ulama Indonesia) does not play a role in Indonesian politics. Rather, its role is to increase the Indonesian Muslim community's religiosity and devotion to Allah SWT, and to protect it from polytheism, hypocrisy and apostasy.
