The appellant sought to challenge the decision of the Bireuen Shari'a Court (lower court), which had granted the respondent an irrevocable divorce (talak satu bain sughra).
The Court dismissed the appeal. Notably, it qualified that while it was very supportive of the appellant's desire to reconcile with the respondent, its role was limited to counselling and mediating the parties, not coercing a person into reconciling with their spouse.
