The four co-accused were found guilty of gambling (maisir), contrary to arts 5 and 23(1) of Qanun No. 13 of 2003 on Gambling. Items used in the prohibited activities, including IDR 540,000 in cash and eight joker cards, were seized by authorities and entered as evidence. In finding the co-accused guilty of the offence, the court, pursuant to art 23(1) of Qanun No. 13 of 2003, in conjunction with art 5, handed down the minimum prescribed punishment of 11 strokes of the cane.
