Batang Hari Regency Regulation No. 17 of 2013 on Qur'anic Literacy and Shalat Fardlu Obligations for Muslim Students

This regional regulation states that the general aim of compulsory Qur'anic literacy is to ensure that every Muslim student has a basic knowledge of Islam, as well as the skills and obedience to conduct Islamic worship rituals (ibadah), which will lead to having the mindset and behaviour of a good, noble, and God-mindful Muslim (art 3(a)). The specific aim of the regulation is to ensure that Muslim students can all read, write, memorise, and understand the Qur'an, and are able to perform shalat fardlu (pray) on a daily basis (art 3(b)).
